Ways into Writing

a few suggestions from our group

If you are looking to voice your silences through writing, there are many excellent organisations which offer in person and online teaching to help you get started, or develop your work. They support multiple genres including prose, creative nonfiction and memoir as well as poetry.

Below are just a few of the resources which our writers have used. We would welcome suggestions for other tried and tested places where you can follow courses, or connect with mentoring and support schemes. Organisations offering courses please send us details of your offerings.

  • Arvon: Online during the Pandemic and residential courses normally with bursaries for writers in need and access to the Jerwood Arvon Mentoring schemes.

  • Creative Futures say ‘We are an arts organisation and charity. We specialise in supporting creative people, underrepresented artists and communities facing barriers & inequality to opportunity. Our mission is to make the arts more diverse and representative of the world we live in.’
